Tucked on the southern side of the ground floor of the Spring Condos, Escobedo Esthetics is a new 3,000 sf office that offers a variety of cosmetic surgery services.
My friend Kristina won a gift card to for a microdermabrasion treatment at the last DANA Urban Core Happy Hour . She couldn’t go, so I put that baby to good use.
Upon arrival, immediately I noticed the clean lines and almost masculine feel of the place: dark woods, brown shiny concrete floors, and deep red and blues. Light rock music played through the speakers.
After filling out some paperwork (fair warning here – it’s about 6 pages, and it’s on a computer tablet – so it can be a little tougher to navigate), Victor, a younger and amiable fella, did the treatment.
The microdermabrasion was refreshing. Very refreshing. It felt like a nice, clean spray of cold water on my face (which is awesome in this hot, hot weather), and my skin felt like velvet afterwards.
I’m not really into hardcore cosmetic surgery treatments (honestly, that stuff terrifies me a bit), but they offer several other “stronger” treatments than the microdermabrasion that I had. Get this…
Victor told me about something called a “Vampire Facial” (this is a procedure where you have blood drawn from your arm, and then the blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets. [Say what!?] The platelets are then injected into your face, to hopefully stimulate new collagen production), which I read that only, like, 300 other doctors in the nation do. They also do fat transfer, something called “liposulpting”, and laser hair removal (among other treatments).
Per a posting by Escobedo Esthetics on Yelp, “Dr. Escobedo is not a plastic surgeon, but is an affiliate member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons. Cosmetic surgery is often a term many people get confused with plastic surgery.”
Again, this sort of stuff is not really in my area of expertise, but, if you are going in for a more serious treatment, my advice would be to talk with Dr. Escobedo and make sure you are informed, and that your expectations match the probable results.
Overall, my impression of Escobedo Esthetics is a place designed to be accessible to both women and men. I enjoyed my treatment, and would definitely go back for another micro-dermy.
