Warning: This post is VERY girly! If you aren’t into finding convenient beauty solutions in downtown Austin – stop reading now!
But if you are, let’s get REAL girly together, starting now:
I am a pale, pale lady. And along with my fair skin comes quite a bit of sensitivity. So, I’m not real big on getting my eyebrows waxed, which seems to be the common way most of my other lady friends keep their eyebrows looking spectacular.
So, for a long time, I just managed my eyebrows myself, which – you know – is not fun. And then, in the early 2000’s, I was living in Atlanta and I found a GLORIOUS alternative to waxing or tweezing – THREADING. Threading is a hair removal technique that originated in the middle east where the technician uses twisted thread to remove those pesky hairs.
Oh my gosh, I love threading so much. It’s inexpensive, it’s precise, it lasts longer than waxing, and it’s wayyyy gentler on your skin. And in Atlanta, threading is offered almost everywhere it seems. Threading is fetch, y’all.
So, when I moved to Austin in 2007, I was sad, sad, sad to see that threading had not quite made it here yet. There are sill relatively few places that offer this service. And only two in central Austin and only one in downtown proper:
Wink is located on the ground floor of the 360 Condos in downtown Austin, and is a small salon solely dedicated to eyebrow threading. Prices start at $12 for eyebrow shaping, and the service is speedy and (mostly) painless. And I can walk to it!
The studio itself is simple, no frills, but the booking process is easy (just call!) and the the folks are friendly.
So, go to there! Try it out! It’s only $12 and it’s a great way to keep those brows lookin’ perty!
Your friend in beauty and convenience,
A
